"Sense"ational Science

"Sense"ational Science
 Science and Literacy Bulletin Board
Students will get ready to think like Einstein and explore the five senses!

Standards
1.1.1  -  Use all senses as appropriate to identify the component parts of objects and the materials from which they are made.
1.3.5  -  Understand what is read by responding to questions (who, what, when, where, why, how).

Objective:
Students will demonstrate their understanding of the book Meet Einstein by practicing the science of questioning through the use of their senses.

Description:
After having read Meet Einstein as a class, students will participate in active learning at each of the sense-stations on the board. For sight, students will test their visual skill by trying to find Waldo in Where's Waldo. For taste, students will take an item from each sack and determine whether the taste is sweet, sour, salty, or bitter. For smell, students will smell 4 different candles and determine what the difference scents are. For hearing, students will try to sort the containers from least to greatest based on the sound of beans in the container. For touch, students will place their hand in each sack and, without looking, try to determine what object they are feeling. After completing each task and documenting it on the provided worksheet, students can scan the QR code on the door to check their answers. Students may also scan the QR code on the board to access a recipe they can make at home using their senses.
