"One is a Snail, Ten is a Crab" by April Pulley Sayre and Jeff Sayre

Objective: 2.CA.1 Add and subtract fluently within 100.

Objective: After reading "One is a Snail, Ten is a Crab", students will practice adding and subtracting using the materials provided on the interactive bulletin board.

Description: The main focus of this board is to practice addition and subtraction. In the bucket is a white board marker as well as velcro pictures that have different amounts of feet on them. They will use the images from the bucket to make combinations to represent the number written on the pink slip of paper above the towels. The towels represent the workspace with spots to put their pictures on. The students can use this in many ways to practice addition and subtraction, or for higher groups, multiplication. This board is designed for multiple students to work at it at a time with a partner.

Materials:

• "One is a Snail, Ten is a Crab"
• Blue, orange, green, brown paper
• 2 hand towels
• Velcro
• White board marker
• Print out of feet pictures represented throughout the children's literature 
• Styrofoam for coconuts on the palm tree.
• Laminated paper for above the towels (to write total on)
• Getting Our Feet Wet Title
